Did you know that your crock pot is ideal for baking bread? Surprise! Surprise! The texture is similar to bread baked in a bread machine, thick and moist, and the aroma, amazing! All types of bread can be baked in a crock pot, too.

Easy Peasy Crock Pot Dinner Rolls

I have to admit that I was pretty skeptical when I first saw a recipe for rolls baked in a crock pot. I mean, really, how good could it be? The answer is…damn good! With very little work, you’ll have soft, delicious dinner rolls…from a crock pot!

This means that when you’re baking the holiday recipes in the oven, you don’t have to somehow “make space” for the rolls. Just use the slow cooker and you’ll be good to go. 

Holiday cooking doesn’t get any easier than this! 

Ingredients needed to make Slow Cooker Dinner Rolls

  • 1 T cornmeal
  • 1 (11-ounce) can of refrigerated crusty French bread or loaf
  • 2 T melted butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp garlic or Italian herb blend (rosemary works, too)
  • 1/2 tsp salt

How To Make Rolls in the Crockpot

Line a 3 to 5-quart crockpot with a sheet of cooking parchment paper. Sprinkle cornmeal on paper.

Cut loaf of dough crosswise into 7 pieces to make rolls. Arrange rolls in crockpot. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, herb blend, and salt. Brush over rolls.

Cover; cook on High heat setting 1 hour 40 minutes or until rolls are golden brown around edges and cooked through in the center.
