Ingredients:

  • 1 pound fresh Ahi tuna, finely chopped or minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce (optional, for a bit of heat)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • Burger buns
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, avocado, wasabi mayo

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped Ahi tuna, soy sauce, green onions, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, Sriracha (if using), sesame seeds, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Form the tuna mixture into burger-sized patties. Make sure the patties hold together well. If the mixture is too wet, you can add a little bit of breadcrumbs.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Carefully place the Ahi tuna patties in the hot pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare burgers. Adjust the cooking time according to your preference, but be cautious not to overcook the tuna, as it is best enjoyed medium-rare.
  5. Toast the burger buns in the pan or on the grill for a minute or two until they’re lightly browned.
  6. Assemble your Ahi tuna burgers by placing the patties on the buns. Add your favorite toppings such as lettuce, tomato, avocado, and a drizzle of wasabi mayo.
