Eureka! I’ve done it, you guys! I’ve FINALLY discovered why kids do all the baffling things they do. It’s not that they’re deliberately trying to drive us out of our ever-lovin’ minds, it’s that they are operating under a totally different set of definitions to common vocabulary terms than we are.
In fact, they have their own kid dictionary. Who knew??
Don’t tell them, but I snuck a few pages out of this super-top-secret kid dictionary to give us parents some insight into their alternative vocabulary:
Aha! Now bedtime makes perfect sense.
So when we say, “Clean your room,” this is what they think we’ve said. Beautiful.
If I had a nickel for every time I’ve said, “No, child. I am not a trash receptacle.”
So THAT’S why nothing actually makes it into the hamper!
Mornings explained. It’s just so simple.
“Search for your shoes! Hurry!” Oh, man. There’s no winning here, is there?
Kids’ habits make so much more sense now, don’t they? So glad I discovered this. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get my hands on some more pages soon. I’ll keep you posted.
