In the US, the average Thanksgiving dinner costs $50. For some, that’s a drop in the hat. For others, coming up with the money to celebrate Thanksgiving is a stretch – often an impossibility. Recognizing the millions of families in need this holiday season, Jill of Scary Mommy launched the Thanksgiving Project under her non-profit Scary Mommy Nation. Jill simply asked her community for help. Would they be willing to donate some money, even a small amount, to make sure everyone would be able to celebrate Thanksgiving? Her community took notice and raised an incredible $20,000 that first year!
Today, Jill is trying to support thousands of families and she needs our collective help! The authors of The Mother of All Meltdowns (MOAM – myself included) are out in full force this holiday season supporting The Scary Mommy Thanksgiving Project! The Project gives mothers and their families an evening of food, love, and warmth, without the stress and worry they battle the rest of the year. With your help, MOAM would like to adopt some families in need. We’ve already adopted three, but there are over 200 more families on the waiting list! And time is running out!
Please donate using the button below (We’re accepting donations until 11/20/2013), or consider giving directly (or adopting an entire family – $50) via Scary Mommy. You can also send checks to: Scary Mommy Nation • PO Box 20866 • Baltimore, MD • 21209
