Ingredients:

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 small head of cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for cooking
  • Green onions, chopped, for garnish (optional)
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sugar, and black pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15-20 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the marinated beef to the hot wok and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes or until browned. Remove the beef from the wok and set it aside.
  4. In the same wok, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Add minced garlic and sliced onion, stir-frying until the onion becomes translucent.
  5. Add the sliced cabbage to the wok and continue to stir-fry for 3-5 minutes or until the cabbage is tender but still crisp.
  6. Return the cooked beef to the wok and toss everything together until well combined and heated through.
  7. Adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more soy sauce, oyster sauce, or black pepper to taste.
  8. Serve the black pepper beef and cabbage stir-fry over cooked rice or noodles.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
