Let’s be honest: when it comes to diet, sinful treats like cookies, cakes, and ice cream are always off the list. However, according to several studies, desserts can surprisingly help dieters lose weight. In an article published by Science Daily, “researchers from Tel Aviv University have found that dessert, as part of a balanced 600-calorie breakfast that also includes proteins and carbohydrates, can help dieters to lose more weight—and keep it off in the long run.” Consumption of sweets in the morning can help the body’s metabolism reach its maximum functionality and able to burn a few calories throughout the day. While most of us believe that avoiding sweets can help us lose some weight, Prof. Daniela Jakubowicz of Tel Aviv University’s Sackler Faculty of Medicine explained that it “can (only) create a psychological addiction to these same foods in the long-term.”
Chocolate Cake Diet, Anyone?

Chocolate Cake
According to The Telegraph, “Eating cookies or chocolate as part of breakfast that includes proteins and carbs also helps stem the craving for sweets later.” Health buffs can add a little bit of sweet twist to their ordinary breakfast meals with M&S’s Gluten Free Chocolate Loaf Cake or include hot cup of chocolate to start your busy day. “What you eat for breakfast does not make you fat,” Jakubowicz added.
JELL-O
Not everyone knows that JELL-O is actually a brand name. However, because of its popularity among children, the name has been genericized and became synonymous with any gelatin dessert. In fact, the famous gelatin mix which is widely used in several gelatin-based products is a processed variety of collagen. It is a natural protein that is present in tissues, ligaments, and tendons of mammals.
Ice Cream
Since the history of ice cream apparently uncertain, many food historians believed that ice cream started in China. Because of its flavored ice treats, Marco Polo brought forth the sweet idea in Italy and modern ice cream was made. A scoop of fruit-flavored sherbet after breakfast is enough to keep your sweet cravings in check, not to mention that it also packs you with energy to last the whole day.
