If you have a family, your home is filled with life. Although you may think that refers only to your kids running through the halls or your beloved pets snoozing in front of the fireplace, it doesn’t. Not all of the life your humble abode contains is good for you. There might be some uninvited guests residing deep within the many nooks and crannies of your house in the form of mold. If so, you and your loved ones could experience some unpleasant health issues—such as coughing, asthma, headaches and sometimes even worse. Before evicting this unwanted freeloader, however, you have to know where to look for it.

The two obvious places around the average household where mold settles are the bathroom and kitchen. Yet these are not the only potential trouble spots. Anywhere that is dark, damp and warm can be a welcome mat for this troublesome invader—even under your welcome mat. Other areas to look for include the dryer vent, drapes and any upholstered furniture.

Are you concerned about how mold growth could be negatively impacting your health and that of your family? Be sure to see the accompanying infographic. It provides a checklist of common areas around the house that could be hiding something.
