Conceiving a child isn’t always as easy as they made it sound in your high school health class. Knowing when (and what) your fertile window is can vastly improve your chances of getting pregnant. Ovulation calculators can make this task much easier!
Some women are great about tracking their cycle and knowing exactly when they ovulate. For others, it can be more difficult.
Ovulation calculators are designed to tell you when your body releases an egg during your cycle.
By knowing this, you can calculate your fertile window — the time when your body is able to conceive.
One thing to note: these calculators are very useful tools, but they’re just that – tools. They’re not able to tell you exactly when you ovulate, just when you can expect to ovulate, based on average women and their cycles.
Of course, this isn’t medical advice. For specific information about your health, your cycles, and your fertility, definitely talk to your doctor!
Now, on to the ovulation calculators!

The ovulation calculator from BabyCenter is my personal favorite. It tells you your fertile window for the cycle you enter AND for the few months after.
Many women believe they’ll become pregnant as soon as they start trying. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. This particular ovulation calculator will let you know your expected fertile windows for a four-month period.
Another feature I really like about this particular ovulation calculator is it also gives you the corresponding approximate due dates for a baby conceived during each of the cycles listed.
If you’re a completely neurotic person like me the type of person who really likes to plan things, you might appreciate knowing that getting pregnant in early April, for example, is likely to result in a baby born near Christmas.
*If all this tracking and planning sounds right up your alley, you’ll definitely want to check out this mega-post of conception and pregnancy calculators. It’s an obsessive planner’s dream!
Another great ovulation calculator comes from The Office on Women’s Health.
To use this calendar, first, enter the start date of your last period. Then, adjust the expected length of your cycle from the drop-down menu. The ovulation calculator will give you your estimated fertile window as well as your expected ovulation date.
This calculator also gives you the ability to save your results for later. You can send them to yourself via email or to your Google, Apple, or Outlook calendar. Now you can track your personal plans, work meetings, and fertile window all in one place!
One more solid option is the ovulation calculator from WebMD.
On the first screen, you select the start date of your last period. On the next screen, you select your cycle length.
The calculator then tells you your expected fertile window and ovulation date. As a bonus, it also gives you the start date for your next period and when you should take a pregnancy test.
Getting pregnant is a lot easier if you know your fertile window. These ovulation calculators will help you make the most of each cycle if you’re trying to conceive.
(Of course, if you’re really serious about identifying your fertile window, you can try these ovulation tests. They make it really simple to know when you’re ovulating. Plus, they’re more accurate than tracking your cycle or using ovulation calculators for approximate dates.)
However you decide to track your fertile window, I wish you the best of luck on this journey!
